Hello all Got a couple of quieries, hope they're don't show my ignorance too much. I've got one CJ Bolland album, the 4th sign, and a remixe he did of Lush for Orbital. Can anyone tell me of anything else? A discog would be nice. I've got the Meat Beat Manifesto remixe 12" of Mindstream, remixes by Orbital and Aphex Twin. There is a remix of Original Control by someone called D.H.S. (if I remember rightly). They used lots of samples of Robbie the robot from Forbidden Planet, more than the original had. Can anyone tell me anything more of them? I've looked just about every time I go into a shop but have found nothing else. Thanks in advance. Lots of love Tim One of the least common things in the world today is: common sense.

D.H.S. is (or was) Ben Stokes. To my knowledge he has put out two full-lengths: The House of God (1990) and another around 1992. His style is a lot like Greater Than One from back in the day when they still used original ideas. 8-bit, sample-heavy songs with a sense of humor. I'm not sure if D.H.S. is still around, since the MBM remix is the last thing i heard from it. That's too bad, because he is a talented guy. Mixmaster Morris used a sample from the House of God LP on his 'underground' EP. One of my most prized possessions is a D.H.S. t-shirt that i found a Bill's one day for ten bucks. Trainspotter mode off. -jeff

During MBM's tour with 808state about 2 years ago, MBM played a cover of a DHS track that was not on either of DHS's LPS...it was called "BAD ACID #9" When Jack Dangers was asked what song was that after the show..he commented that it was a song that they reciently remixed for them after they remixed mindstream. Supposedly DHS was using that to shop around for a new label. Last on HANGMAN. I have both HOUSE OF GOD and latest. EHH.

FYI, Reverb did a cool article on DHS awhile ago in his unfortunately discontinued e-zine. Check the hyperreal archives for that one. But Dan told me once that Ben Stokes is in some way involved with H-Gun in Chicago, a really cool "media" company that has, among many other projects, done some of the more radical music videos out there recently. For example I think H-Gun created the VIDEO for Ministry's "just one fix" which is a visually fascinating/disturbing piece, and I *think* they did a video for PublicEnemy, too. (?). Last I heard Reverb was looking into doing a WWW page for DHS, or, uh, wasn't I supposed to say that Dan? ;) Clue us in... Any new music on the horizon from DHS? p e a c e _________________________________________________________________________ Matt MacQueen --safely and independently representing only myself <macqueen@student.msu.edu> WYSIWYG. _________________________________________________________________________

Prior to "The 4th Sign" there were 3 "Ravesignal" EPs all on R&S. These are pretty rare now I should think. I believe he also used to work with someone called Steve Cop or something as Sonic Solution. "Camargue" was released as a remix 12", and he has also done a remix for Utah Saints - "Highlander" I think was the track title - it was on the B-side of a really crap 12" single a year or so ago. There is a remix of the Prodigy's "No Good", and he also had an exclusive track on one of the first 2 TEX LPs (the first one I think.
