I really really like it. 100% electro. Brendan has recorded this as "Ectomorph," (on his new label that is 2 long techno sounding words and I can't remember it right now). The one I got was a clear 12" with 4 tracks total, 2 on each side, plus a peppering of very usable locked grooves. He told me one locked groove was a "remix" of another locked groove, it's kinda funny, you'll see what he meant. There's etching all over the record, inbetween grooves pointing to tracks on the record itself, etc. "from the INTERGALACTIC PIMP" and all that good stuff.... ;) It's an electro record that succeeds cause it's basic, IMHO. He didn't overpower the tracks with samples or effects, as far as I can tell, some of it is stark (a la Drexciya, obvious resemblances) but one of the tracks seems really warm to me. But it's definitely got the funk. Bottom line: I think it's on par or better than the Jedi Knights thing. peaceout. p.s. - Laurie Anderson at the FOX in Detroit monday night was *incredible!* A true pioneer of music technology. Anyone else go? Mail me off the list.... _______________________________________________________________________ Matt MacQueen more Kling Klang. Knowing my weakness for the Detroit stuff, especially the experimental side, a guy at the local shop put the Ectomorph 12" in my hands and I went with it. An 808 electro workout, the four tracks are facets of the same stone. This strikes me as a decent example of using the original electro sound as a jumping-off point. The label is Interdimensional Transmissions -- the etching says "Interdimensional transmissions from the intergalactic pimps". The record isn't quite clear vinyl--mine at least has dark streaks all over. It's like they just didn't color the vinyl black, as opposed to using pure, clear vinyl. I didn't find the locked gooves. Have to pull that record out again! On Wed, 15 Mar 1995, Matt MacQueen wrote:
