But beyond Genesis P. Orridge and Richard H Kirk the industrial connection to techno (IMHO) doesnt go any further than that...... OK! Finalesment, did anyone go to that Oscillate allnighter in the Que Club, Birmingham (England....). Stunning wasnt the word! Autchre and u-ziq played, and aside from Autechre's kind of uninspiring set (Repetitve beats to 'Flutter'! That cannot happen..i was so looking forward to going crazy with ticky sounds everywhere...) where most of their brilliant stuff on amber was either overlooked ("Montreal, Silverside") or mixed in with some odd sounding beats that didnt go well at all ("piezo" got totally trashed). u-ziq were downright brill and I swear Mike Paradinas is deliberately getting more into the cheezy 70s in-house brass band sound....most of the end of the set sounded more like human league crossed with some odd soap opera theme tunes and 70s movie soundtracks than anything else! Nevertheless, it was f!!!ing ace. PS Anyone figured out the track listing to "Bluff LImbo" yet or is that something I missed? As for the DJing - brill. Anyway, gotta fly..... Ok! darko (On NOW: "The Calling": APL)

Yes, I was there! I was blown away too, but I must say more by Autechre than mU-ziq, to be honest. I too was surprised to hear repetitive beats on "Flutter" but the fact that it was 15 minutes long and still brilliant says something. The speed change was great! The fact that I was at the back on the balcony when I heard mU-ziq probably affected the sound. I thought he had a problem making the tracks sound tight - the beats seemed to come in any-old-how at times. Not that it was bad :) I actually left about 4:05 before he had even finished playing because my friend and I were both about to drop - not enough all night parties recently! :( The event certainly the night put the "D" into IDM. The Oscillate boys built the night from ambient dub to great hard crunchy beats, and both acts displayed/played their harder, less ambient side. Or Coil, or Intermix (no flames about whether FLA was "truly" industrial), or... the list goes on. -H-

Sure! Anyone heard if there is a domestic Tango n' Vectif coming out soon? :-) (or did I miss it? I didn't see it in the ZiqFaq but a local record store here insists it is coming out. Will there be yet another new set of tracks on this one to foil Trainspotters?) -H-
