Save your energy -- it's a complete fake. I don't know why so many people readily accepted "melodies from mars" as authentic: it doesn't sound like Aphex at all, not old Aphex, not new Aphex, not anywhere-in-between Aphex. Some joker thought "Gee, most of the old aphex tracks aren't that complicated; I bet I could re-write some of em and pass it off as everyone's fav underground techno boffin!" I suppose the full gig of aphex rarities floating around the Net isn't enough for some rabid-fan types, and so began the MFM hype. N. PS AB5 is real tho. :) On 16 Jan 2000 "benjib" wrote:

i did a search once using google(a search engine you all shoudl use www.google.com) for melodies from mars, it came up with an interview with mike paradinas in a somewhat mainstream magazine, he said somehting to the effect that he had haerd RDJ's tape he did called "melodies from mars" and that partly intitiated him to attempt the Mike and Rich project with RDJ etc. there IS something called "melodies from mars" RDJ did, i guess it could be questionable as to if it is actually whats circulating the net... andy At 03:42 PM 1/19/00 +0000, you wrote:

Thats funny, "complete fake"? at least two of the tracks on it were released on other Aphex titles.. no too complete of a fake to me. Not to mention all the experts denying that Windowlicker as "obviously NOT aphex", then two months later it really was. e Ernesto Ikerd, (817) 763-4795 Company Graphics, Dept 17, MZ-1156 Lockheed Martin Tactical Aircraft Systems Fort Worth, Texas --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Ok I'd love to hear the logical explanation for Aphex choosing to submit album tracks to videogame companies. That makes _loads_ of sense. Have you considered the possibility that it was distributed before RDJ was released? I agree - especially track 10, which could have been an alternate direction for "Girl/Boy". Wouldn't you know that the best track there is only 1:08 long or whatever...*sigh*. Okay, so what if it is? Those are some great fucking tracks even if it isn't Aphex. I appreciate them for what they are- beautifully lo-fi tracks with simple but brilliant melodies. Instead of falsifying RDJ's involvement, I'd rather just enjoy them. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! aphex.org is Aphex Networx which appears to have nothing to do with Aphex Twin at all. And if you mean aphextwin.org, that is an unofficial site. did i miss something here? this stuff actually does sound like rdj, for that matter. he's got the same squish sounds found on mike and rich, which in fact, corrolates with the information just recently posted about the mike p interview. if this is in response to a dated thread, please let me know. shaun --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

not even ! his ambient works take themselves quite seriously. he has the signs of a creative genius--excellence in every kind of music he works in, which is essentially most every kind of electronic music there is. ! as for these _melodies from mars_, i thought that some of them were really not very good, and i do love the _rdj album_. others were good enough to be on that disc, so i think of these mp3's as a sort of prequel to it. .af. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Ya know, those tracks ARE pretty good... Let's just say for a moment that _I_ made them (which I didn't). WHY would I say they were Aphex Twin instead of taking credit for them myself and furthering my music career? As a musician I take a LOT of pride in my work and the MFM tracks show a lot of pride in them. I have a hard time believing that someone spent a few weeks making those tracks only to give someone else the credit. I just don't buy it. ___________________________________________ ___________________________________________ `~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~ Rishi Aaron Saez fleshpile1@home.com `~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~ Hear the music of -Fleshpile- at: http://www.mp3.com/fleshpile ~ Visit -Morbid Visions- at: http://members.theglobe.com/mvision/welcome.html ~ Visit -The Official SCORN- at: http://members.theglobe.com/scornpage/index.html ~ Visit Robinson Research, Inc. at http://www.robinsonresearchinc.com ~ Visit -Fleshpile Manor- at: http://members.theglobe.com/fleshmanor/index.htm `~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~ ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Come on man, use a little brainpower here. Whoever forged them was just trying to see if they could write stuff people would believe was "early, unreleased" Aphex. You'd feel pretty good too if u could write music a lot of sad gits thought was aphex -- and that's the only explanation for it -- an ego boost.
