Not to be a curmudgeon, but this question comes up every 4 weeks or so, and it's getting to be a bit much. My suggestion: for a primer on something like essential electronica, check some web resources. The All Music Guide (http://www.allmusic.com) is a great reference for history, etc., and The Wire online (http://www.dfuse.com/the-wire/) has some great primers online. Forcefield (http://www.sonik.demon.nl/forcefield/ffffff.html) also has great archives of reviews & interviews. Bootstraps, people, bootstraps. If you would all be so kind as to send me your definitive IDM top 10s I will compile a list for the IDM mailing list database (http://www.madvision.co.uk/idm) , which is being expanded from holding just the IDM archive... new features inc, Promo sheet archive, discography archive, IDM-Review archive BAck to this top 10 list. If you can send a list of what you feel to be the most important releases in IDM, I will pull them all together and make it readable... Talking of the IDM database, you will be pleased (?) to hear that a new version is soon coming... with all the upto date data, all the crap removed from the existing data, a new wizzy interface, threaded messages and better search options.... also... http://www.neoouija.co.uk is online now... previously....
