exactly! he takes a perfectly danceable form, the tango, and renders it undancable and morose. not quite the post-technological anomie which we prefer here in IDM land, but you can't have everything.
a couple of interesting records are his "History of the Tango" vols 1 and 2, where he takes some of the famous early tangos (like "La Cumparsita" and "El Choclo") and subjects them to his darker, elaborately rhythmic, idiosyncratic orchestrations.
off topic, for sure, but he's a fuck of a lot more interesting than My Bloody Valentine.
