why is it that so many western musicians, when they wish to incorporate
eastern themes into their music they turn to india? there are bands such
as OM, who's name is a direct reflection of indian culture... and now sven
vath talks of dreaming in nepal and india- inspiration for his accident in
paradise. i am interested to know why such a fascination exists for india,
the music and the culture, and most of all i am interested to know if this
is trendy as of late or if people are actually finding something there for
themselves.
i realize this is not a direct discussion of IDM, but i think it does
relate to the genre and what many artists seem to be doing, or trying to
do.
