I was looking for just the controller without the audio interface, and I played around with the Oxygen 8 and the Edirol PCR-50 for a while in a Guitar Center. I ended up going with the Edirol. I liked the layout better and the fact that it has more controllers, and it felt a little sturdier IMO. The sliders in particular made up my mind...using this with Ableton so it's a good way to control the mixer and I can use the knobs for effect params. I haven't performed live on it yet, so I can't talk about road wear, but the thing seems pretty solid. Right now I don't have the audio situation figured out yet, but I'm planning on going with a firewire interface, and in general I think firewire or PCMCIA is probably a better way to go than USB to avoid latency problems, especially if you're running both audio and MIDI over the same interface. Less portable I guess, but I think it's worthwhile. Just my $0.02. -- Tim Moore On Mar 30, 2004, at 6:41 PM, Mark.Nelson@zlbusa.com wrote:
