Yep, pretty much like you described. Although not quite as extreme, as
there's enough other-idol-stuff going on in general media anyway to tame it

What's up with the eminem hate? i'm not really into the music, but he's a
phenomenal writer, has a keen ear for good production, and totally brought
himself up to his current status -- which is quite opposite from most
popular music, who were simply "discovered" and then slickly produced to
squish out easily digestable niblets of music.
