well, for one thing, i find that Slate has pretty insightful political reporting, so they're not a totally worthless outfit. and clearly i do seek out relevant info -- how else would i have judged this review to be worthless? the point is this: i've been into IDM since around 1998. this hardly makes me old school or anything, but in the last 5 years or so, i have noticed that the profile of this kind of music continues to rise. that leads inevitably to some recognition by the mainstream press. what makes me mad is lazy reporting and people getting their facts wrong. that Slate review might make someone who's just getting into electronic music think that aphex is the bee knees and autechre, pusher, and u-ziq are one trick ponies not work investigating. misinformation pisses me off. but how 'bout that Blamstrain album on merck? good stuff, indeed.

Its all shit and always has been. The fact that a Slate review misquotes,
misinterprets and misinforms is kind of a given.
Seek relevant information,
Peter
