At last something I can agree with :-)
Oh. And Ben saying I was .5 of the intelligent people on here. That's the
biggest compliment I've had in years. Ta mate.
(I reckon Pixellate === John Reading and they are an agent sent from the
RIAA to enforce the myth that one format of distribution is worse than
another by confusing us and being noisey.)
I'm going back to reading books now... But before I do. ..
Been listening 'Martes' by Murcof on leaf and I don't think I've mentioned
how nice this album is before. I know it's probably old hat to lots on this
list, but it's a lovely melding of infusions. It is post modern music in
that it takes references from so many places and brings them together into
it's own space of beauty. Classical composition meets heavyweight bass and
the cut up glitch. It is music of the technology which exists now and
encapsulates all that sampling has become. More than lifting a grove and now
lifting and evolving an atmosphere. I listened to it sitting in a
conservatory on a cold spring morning as the sun broke through the trees and
the birds fed on seeds in the garden and for a moment I forgot about all the
fuckedupness going on around the world and was enraptured by the beauty of
it all.
And on the leaf note what does everyone think of Jacknuggeted, the new
Manitoba release? I keep on thinking "Badly Drawn Boy" when I hear it. But
in a good way. It's nice and summery and the video looks lovely [well, the
one I saw on manitoba.fm, which was a bit grainy]
muffin -- currently chillin' away from home on narrowband.
