The MP3 dilemma is actually pretty cut and dried: if you love the music
you're downloading and you want the artist who made that music that you
love to continue making music that you love without him/her having to
devote his/her time to flipping burgers or writing code or whatnot for a
living, he/she/it has to be compensated in some form. So, steal away,
but realize that the more you take, the less he/she/it has time to
create, and that we as music freaks are all the worse for that truth.
Labels, copyrights, etc. are really beside the point. It's about a
connection between creator and audience; if the creator has emotionally
moved the audience, and the audience has received pleasure and wants to
continue receiving said pleasure, they must help support the creator
lest he/she/it loses inspiration because of an inability to support
himheritself.
