The first suggestion I'd make is Phthalocyanine. And also MFVS which is Phthalocyanine + Crank. You might also want to check out Crank's stuff, though I've only heard "Wanton Phenomena". I've also heard some Rook Vallade stuff that's got that improvisatory feel. Those acts generally have a rawer, less polished sound than Autechre, but I think there's a similar open ended feel to their work which is in line with "Confield"..
