You know what it's like when people say they like X
and are interested in suggestions of something just
like it. You suggest Y and Z because they're sorta
like X, being all angular and pointy. Then,
invariably, someone suggests S because it's a letter,
too, and you just wanna smack 'em, cuz it's a letter,
but it's nothing like X.
like if i said i really liked Proem and someone then
suggested Phonem, because Phonem is really only
remotely like Proem when you get right down to it.
no one likes to talk about it but i just keep liking
Confield more and more... is there anything else like
it? and I don't mean just anything remotely like it,
like earlier Autechre - even that isn't just like
Confield.
i'm not really looking for just yer average sound
collage stuff like, er, i dunno, leafcutter john or
fennesz or electric company or vladislav delay or
monolake or whathaveyou. something visceral and
immediate is what i crave, if in fact that's what i
like about confield, which it may not be.
maybe i don't know what i'm talking about (that's more
the norm with me, anyway), and maybe i need to revisit
some of these other artists...
but really - confield - is there anything else like
it?
