Atari Teenage Riot founder Carl Crack was found dead in his apartment from
an apparent suicide in Berlin on Sept. 6. He was 30-years-old. Crack had
long struggled with psychiatric problems although a cause of death was not
announced at press time. Crack had been working on material for a solo album
during a year off from ATR. "[Carl] had suffered since a teenager from
psychotic attacks, which I watched getting worse each year," said band mate
Alec Empire in a statement released Monday (Sept. 24). "I hoped that he
would be able to work things out. His letters sounded positive and
optimistic. His sudden death has hit me very hard and it is not easy for me
to find the right words ? I will miss him. Carl, we'll never forget you."
