While there are limits to the amount of expression you can put into an organ performance (no velocity for example), going to chruch must have been an awesome experience then. I've only heard organs in cathedrals a couple of times - not being christian any more and the fact that grand choral performances are no longer the norm - but a big organ in a huge church, the vibes are amazing. Some of those organs put out stupendous amounts of bass, and many cathedrals were designed with an eye to good acoustics.
