Oh yes absolutely I've been wondering if anyone else noticed this, In the US, especially NYC there's a huge feeding ground between hiphop and dancehall - witness Shyne (P.diddy's bitch) w/ Barrington Levys "Whooooaaaa Ehhhh!" Go back to early breakbeats, mostly the proto-jungle stuff and its loaded with 80s Dancehall samples, also many modern digi-riddims as instrumentals would easily pass as IDM with a little bit of DSP tweakery. Riddims like Grass Cyart, Streetsweeper, Medina (one of my favs) I'd love to see someone like Sean Paul or Mr Vegas do a track with someone like Push Button Objects or Phonecia etc might not work, but might work really well! For an excellent site on riddims check out: http://www.reggae-riddims.com/ Or the amazing JamRid site: http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Heights/2597/ - Its "Interactive"! -i --- Medium Graham <medium_graham@yahoo.co.uk> wrote:
