Highly subjective? Yes, that was my point exactly. Thank you for understanding. ---brian ------------------------ Brian W. Well, that's highly subjective. There are people who would deem any music which doesn't introduce some new idea worthless (i.e. Pierre Boulez) and there are people who compose music more as some sort of scientific experiment not to "make you feel something" (i.e. Xenakis).

Autechre intellectual ? Come on ! And personally I really enjoy Arovane's music, especially recently. I mean I don't think he's quite top tier stuff a la Aphex and Autechre, but he's very high up there in my esteem. You can tell he's been influenced by the standard IDM stuff, but there's a maturity in his work which doesn't relegate it to mere mimicry (i.e. Funkstorung, Fizzarum, etc.). There's something very enthralling about his compositions. He really knows how to create an atmosphere and a mood. I'd say 'thaem neu" off "Atol Scrap" is one of my favorite IDM tracks. I was playing that piece at a party recently and right away a couple of people were like "this is really beautiful". At first I was a lot more into "Tides" than "Atol Scrap", but I find the more I listen to "Atol Scrap" the more it grows on me.
