yeah.. and you'd be even more disappointed if you had to wait an hour and a half for some ridiculous security check (put in place purely to massage the ego of the label organising the party, who i highly doubt are seeing revenue-loss through bootlegging of shows.. as the people wanting to listen to the bootlegs are likely to be those so obsessed with the music they're guaranteed to buy the records when they come out and they'll probably buy both formats!.. but anyway) which doesn't even work.. only to get inside my party to find you can't see a thing because someone has put a giant great wall in front of the stage (BUT IT's OK.. because my BEST friends get to sit behind the stage, where there is more space than anywhere else.. and where they've probably still got reserves of alcohol). so instead, you decide to fill my fat pocket with a bit more cash by buying one of my beers for 3 quid (me making approx 2 quid profit on it - but you only get one, because i can't work out how much beer to buy and get it totally wrong). so you go back inside my main room to discover your favourite act are on, you can't see, the sound is masked by disgusting bass frequencies bouncing off all the walls, and in the end you decide the best sound is actually outside. where it is cold. you'd be pretty disappointed then, wouldn't you? seriously: i am not saying the event was shit. and i am certainly not being hyper-critical because of my heightened excitement for this show.. not at all. i am point out, basic, fundamental problems with the event. these are not small problems which are like 'niggles' of mine, they are fuck off huge, very important problems with an event. i co-ordinate events myself (certainly not on this scale, but musical events nonetheless) and if i'd been in charge of organising this party, i'd be very embarrassed. tom x --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
