Is it very much like the track on the Kompakt Total 1 LP? Gavin (A Z) >> (Warning: I'm listening to John Beltran right now, so I hope this description actually reflects how Dettinger sounds and not an old Placid Angels 12".) Dettinger's "Intershop" CD is seven untitled tracks of very warm and fuzzy Cologne minimalism. Dettinger is smart enough to realize "minimal" does not necessarily mean "unpleasant", it just means "selective", so what we have hear are grainy, warm, friendly instrumentals that operate on the Mike Ink principle (basic tracks that grow increasingly deep and mind-expanding) without resorting to the dancefloor hi-hat and bass drum kick. One of the top two or three albums this year. Dettinger also has three 12"s, which I see referred to as: Blond (Kompakt) Puma (Kompakt) Totentatz (Kompakt) I'm not sure, and someone will surely correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the first two 12"s _are_ the CD. I dunno. That's just what I assumed, so I didn't buy those two 12"s. But the third one is definitely new tracks, as it just came out last week (and I'm desperate to pick it up! Why can't I live near Bent Crayon or Hardwax!?) Dettinger for me is operating in the upper echelon of Cologne, where only the Bionaut and Air Liquide reside.
