i'd have to agree on this one, studio 1, while maybe not something that everyone would want to sit down and listen to, has some very strong qualities. first of all, similar to most other minimal releases, there's almost more said in some music by what's not added as opposed to heaping together sound upon sound. just because all music isn't as 'involved' as crank or ae doesn't mean that it's a joke. that's a pretty strong statement to be placed upon any artist or release. secondly, in the dj tool vein, i've heard several good dj's who can dj nothing but studio 1, brinkmann, etc. and make it just as exciting as any other high energy set i've ever heard. it's all in the dj/artists' creativity and what they choose to do and when. timing. something that i'm sure that every listmember has a good idea about. as for me, there are times when i'd much rather sit down and listen to a studio 1, ester brinkmann, plastikman, a self described 'minimal' artist (urban sounds interview), etc. release than something that's more 'involved' (lack of a better term). anyways, my $.02 craig. w111cms@hotmail.com
