here's a question i've been pondering for a long time. I've noticed
that the term IDMer is used in a lot of posts to this list. I was just
curious; what does it mean to be an idmer exactly? Is it just a term
one can claim if one likes some [if not all] of the music mentioned on
this list? I don't have a lot of money so while my meagre music
collection does pay sincere homage to such IDM staples as Aphex Twin,
Autechre, Plastikman, Mouse On Mars, blah blah blah, and so on, I tend
to actually hear the more obscure stuff from my boy's (seemingly) weekly
rekkid deliveries :) I can't buy a ton of music, tho i wish i could :(,
but my boy has tons of IDM and i really dig just about everything he
plays. When IDM-ish events crop up in Toronto we both go. Are we both
IDMers? Or am i just a poseur and only he is an idmer 'cause he
actually owns the music? I'm not trying to sound peevish, i'm just
honestly curious.
