Can be a pain in the ass in a funny way. I remember quite a few years back
during my radio show trying to play tracks on the new Woody McBride
at the time (on Drop bass or generator, can't remember). Anyway, I hadn't
had a chance to listen to it at home at all, and was throwing it on in the mix
(or trying to) for the first time (and hearing it/trying it out for the first
time).
As I remember now, some of the tracks played forwards and some played
backwards.
There I was on the show and I kept cueing (or *trying* to cue) the first song
on
each side and (because
the track played backwards, which I didn't realize until I got home) the
needle would not bite into the groove, it would fall off the edge of the
record.
So here I was trying to get it to play, the needle would fall off, trying to
get it
to play, the needle would fall off... Eventually, I gave up-- worried that
the
tonearm needed adjusting, but then it worked fine for another record. When I
got the record
home and realized that it played backwards, I sure felt damn foolish :)
It's done so rarely that in the heat of the moment, one doesn't usually say
"gee, maybe it's supposed to play backwards", I guess (at least that's
my excuse for that fateful night ;)
