yes. I respect gonzi for putting the effort into the sites and he has
'liased' to some extent with me in the past something I was quite
happy to do.

of course we would have said yes - if we'd had the rights ourselves to
do so - quite often we do not. for instance theoretically all our DR
artwork is usually licensed for record covers only. DR retain the
copyright in all other media.
the theft of the sqpsher photo's would be particulary galling for the
photographer who is not being credited or paid. we have to pay for
those photo's and mixmag have to have permission to use them.
the approval of this kind of use is part of what I do at warp - I
can't remember refusing a request yet.
there is a fine line between being precious and petty and protecting
other people's rights and I try to tread carefully.
