Speaking of Goldie, I got to see him DJ along with Doc Scott here in Orange County at Metropolis (about 25 mins from the G-spot) last Thursday. I'd never seen him DJ before, though I witnessed his so-so live performance opening for Bjork last year here in LA (and for that we missed AFX?) Anyway, Goldie was dressed head to toe in Stussy. I tried to spot an engagement ring on his fingers as he was mixing then realised this was ridiculous - he has big gold rings like a pimp on every finger. He also dances like a freak, he can sure bust a move. Many a Metalheaz white label was spun by Mr. Goldie, the strangest part being that the white labels where labeled (I guess by Goldie) in some sort of weird code. A record by Hidden Agenda (I'm pretty sure) was labeled "Agenda Headzz - STEP!!." Several other records where hand labeled like this but I was only able to make a few of them out. Goldie was ok, but the real shit was hearing Doc Scott spin. He played some incredibly dark and minimal stuff with some brilliant acid overtones on a series of white label ten-inches that just blew me fucking away. Some of the best jungle I've ever heard. They traded the decks for 3 hours but by the time they were done there where like 20 people left in the club. Quite weird looking around at hardly anyone there and here's Goldie DJ'ing right in front of you. Anyway, not a bad way to spend a Thursday... /""'' /"'RESH Live and Direct from the G-Spot Orange County, California, USA
