I just got a promo of an excellent new Detroit comp
on, of all labels, Astralwerks. Ten beautiful tracks of
Detroit bliss with cool comic book-esque artwork by Alan
Oldham (DJ T1000). I believe that some of the tracks on
this comp have been previously but there isn't a single
poor track throughout.
I love the opening ultrasmooth track by Claude Young and
the electro workouts by Will Web & Ectomorph and the wicked
groove of Sean Deason & K.Hand and the thumping bass-
madness of Shake, DJT1000, and Terrence Dixon.
Detroit: Beyond the Third Wave CD/2xLP ASW6170 (Astralwerks)
1. Claude Young: impolite to refuse
2. Sean Deason: vortex
3. Kosmic Messenger: 8th wonder (wanderer's mix)
4. K.Hand: come on now baby
5. Shake: sandblaster
6. Ectomorph: insert another data disk
7. Will Web: life on tek (bumpin' down jefferson mix)
8. DJ T1000: solid signal
9. Terrence Dixon: midnight hours
10. Mode Selector: last trip
From start to finish I really like this comp. I imagine
that the exposure the artists on this comp will get from
this release will send sales of Detroit music soaring.
Release date is said to be on May 21
