I really like vocals in techno song where you can just barely make out the words. I don't mean vocal pads, but more where it's just someone talking (or singing) and you think you should be able to tell what they are saying, but it is just screwed up enough that you can't. Underworld are the masters of this "and a beggars dog tasting the wind". Eno is quite good too "he phrases the stroke that takes the oil", a la Nerve Net. the orb have some good ones (mostly foriegn language stuff) and the vocals to Perpetual Dawn "you'll dance and prance in any dance". the cocteau twins, of course (not really idm), I mean FSOL (phew!). Oh, and Orbital halcyon + on + on is quite good. Fortran 5 Bike and XX21 "ba ba ba, ba ba ba". In short (too late!) there are a lot of groups who do this sort of thing. I'm wondering if anybody know of any songs which are entirely vocal or significantly vocal (but obscured or weird vocals). It's always been my dream to start an a cappella techno group. We'd bring beat boxing back in style "A pumpbh, a pumbh, a <hiccup> puumbh!" [fletcher]
