Hi kids, I'm back from Jazz Fest and good ol' Dave was kind enough to have sent me the last Renegade Soundwave single. Frankly, I think the new sound kicks some royal buttkuss. If I could do a whole set of of steel string guitar dance licks, I would. Looks like even though the Primals are dead, RSW has taken their place. I was trying to think of some other tracks that fall in this kind of blue jean swingy folky thingy. Besides most of the Madchester stuff from a few years back, there's the Screamadelica album and possibly a few of the Wolfgang Press releases ("1000 Times" comes to mind). Any other suggestions? Poop on your "house" I'm awaiting the new RSW with baited breath.

My favorite from the "baggy pants and bad haircuts" days was always Happy Mondays' second LP, _Bummed_. Weird, dark and swampy, nothing else sounded quite like it. I chalk it up to the Martin Hannett production work. I'd also plug Ultra Vivid Scene's _Joy 1967-1990_ here; the more subdued tracks work as "comedown anthems" in the same way that the folkier stuff on _Screamadelica_ does. ----------------------------------------------------------------- dave walker, detroit art services _ marmoset@msen.com freeke robot luv

Try the new album 'Stacked Up' by British band Senser. It's out in the UK on Ultimate. Senser are part of the Club Dog posse, like Eat Static. The tracks i've heard of this album so far are surprisingly good. -- +-----------------------------------+ | Hans Veneman | | E-mail: veneman@tv99ad.hacktic.nl | | phone: +31(0)3200-35266 | +-----------------------------------+

What a coincidence, I just bought 'In Video' this past weekend. It consists of the videos for Kray Twins, Cocaine Sex, Biting My Nails, Probably a Robbery, and Thunder (and a bit of Cocaine Sex Dub at the end). It only runs about half an hour and it cost me $18 at Tower, so you don't get a lot of bang for the buck. I liked the Biting My Nails and Thunder videos best (no surprise, those are the tracks I like best on this). Speaking of Tower, Seefeel's 'Quique' and the Brief History of Ambient Vol. 1 comp are both on sale there this month, in the US anyway. As long as I'm digressing, I also found the promo CD for MBM's "Circles," one track, a remix that doesn't deviate from the original too much - a beefed up rhythm track, that's about it (it's Mute PRCD 8764, Jon). Oh, and BTW, has the inevitable Namlook + Muslimgauze + Hawkwind collaboration come out yet? Did they all release individual albums the same week anyway to avoid a backlog? C. (I should've started waiting out the delays on the Kraftwerk + Derrick May + LFO album four or five years ago!) -- Channel ** cspot/chris [cspot@netcom.com]
