Having been lurking around here for a while, I'll grant it's a little
strange when these older titles come up...
But then again, when you think of it, isn't it also a little strange to
think of FSTH as old news? Bach's Mass in B Minor is old news, but this?
Still, everyone jumps on the merry-go-round at a different point - so
it's all new stuff to somebody...
Having said that, it wouldn't hurt if people hit the archives; although
it _is_ a pain to try to find things there. I'm really looking forward
to having the IDM data base up and running. (soon...?)
It was really the query about local availability that caught my
attention, though. I just tried to place a special order at a pretty
good local shop for Vert's _Koln Konzert_, only to discover that it's no
longer available. Grrr! I didn't think I was _that_ slow on the uptake,
to miss it entirely! I can't tell you how often I've gotten excited
about something I've heard about here, only to find it unavailable: even
by special order.
I know there are the on-line sources for stuff, but I really believe in
trying to support the folks locally... at least the ones that really make
an effort to track things down for you.
I may not just read about stuff I can get locally, but it sure is
frustrating to read about music, 90 % of which I'll probably never
actually get to hear...
(sniff... whine...)
