Has anyone spent any time with this new release off heafty? Just in case your not down with it, I suggest picking up a copy of this cd, exellent stuff. very warm and melodic with intesting defects built into the music. This is a major plus for music on this side of the atlantic. Check it out, you wont be sad you did. This is great for anyone looking for something with some glitch and soul. anyone know when the new comp from S. Betke's label scape is due out? -scott --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Why are people asking for reviews of 'Folk Songs for Trees and Honey' now? Please don't take this as either a slag or a rhetorical question. I am genuinely curious about the answer to this. Around the time Hefty released it, there was plenty of discussion and reviews of it (A fantastic record? Just a Tortoise rip off? Too easy-listening? etc.) and I'm interested as to whether people eg. didn't read those threads (and why they didn't) or weren't on the IDM list at the time or what... I presume Warp's re-release is showing up in shops Hefty's distributors didn't reach. This makes me wonder: do people only read about stuff they already know they can definitely find locally? reply off list if you feel that's more appropriate. (like I need to tell you that :-) Michael np. 'Under the Western Skyway' - Grandaddy (once again IDM-list recommendations of totally off-topic music win through... thanks to whoever was recommending them re: Fat Cat, and big loads of bollocks to whoever said Radiohead are trying to rip them off.) -+- Involve Records http://involverecords.com Jet Jaguar MP3s (latest upload Nov2000) http://mp3.com/jetjag/ -+- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Having been lurking around here for a while, I'll grant it's a little strange when these older titles come up... But then again, when you think of it, isn't it also a little strange to think of FSTH as old news? Bach's Mass in B Minor is old news, but this? Still, everyone jumps on the merry-go-round at a different point - so it's all new stuff to somebody... Having said that, it wouldn't hurt if people hit the archives; although it _is_ a pain to try to find things there. I'm really looking forward to having the IDM data base up and running. (soon...?) It was really the query about local availability that caught my attention, though. I just tried to place a special order at a pretty good local shop for Vert's _Koln Konzert_, only to discover that it's no longer available. Grrr! I didn't think I was _that_ slow on the uptake, to miss it entirely! I can't tell you how often I've gotten excited about something I've heard about here, only to find it unavailable: even by special order. I know there are the on-line sources for stuff, but I really believe in trying to support the folks locally... at least the ones that really make an effort to track things down for you. I may not just read about stuff I can get locally, but it sure is frustrating to read about music, 90 % of which I'll probably never actually get to hear... (sniff... whine...) I've been too busy listening to Aspen and Signer in the last six months to catch most of the stuff discussed here. <smirk> Seriously, though. Mine is a case of being momentarily consumed by other aspects of my life and, for a while there, I didn't have the energy to feed my music addiction. As a consequence, I missed some of this stuff... ---brian ------------------------ Brian W.
