http://www.discogs.com/blog/discover-10-of-the-best-ambient-albums?utm_source=social&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Genre Posted mainly because of all the solid references to stuff I've liked; Global Communication, Gas, The Orb. Some stuff that would make my own list would be Alva Noto (and lots of stuff on raster-noton), Vladislav Delay, many others. But just to narrow my question since I'm always in the hunt for new stuff, anything along those lines coming in the current decade? David

My favorite ambient artists are people like Steve Roach, Robert Rich, Alio Die, and Oöphoi. With the exception of Oöphoi, who died a couple of years ago, they're all still making great music. Most of their music tends to be more texturally oriented than melodic, although there are exceptions. Here are some recommendations. Steve Roach - Structures From Silence Robert Rich - Echo Of Small Things Alio Die - Deconsecrated And Pure Oöphoi - Athlit On Tue, Jul 7, 2015 at 2:57 PM, David Seruyange <g3scom@gmail.com> wrote:

stephan mathieu's music is very pretty, functional in a nice to listen to way but also very detailed and has a harmonic logic that's pretty tough to crack, making it a little impersonal and not immediate but all the more interesting for it. Radioland, A Static Place and Remain are my favorites.

Thanks, Clint. Much appreciated. FYI, that EP was a bit of a departure from my other more beat-oriented stuff, but no less enjoyable to make, that's for sure. If you like the more dub side of ambient, you could do worse than to check out Crooklyn Dub Consortium. Love those guys. On Tue, Jul 7, 2015 at 2:36 PM, Clint Anderson <clinta@gmail.com> wrote:

I done a live recording that could be considered ambient. Recorded at an art gallery last month here in Hong Kong. You can grab it free here, https://sound4good.bandcamp.com/album/mechi with a bonus track that is one long continuous piece of the whole show. All live, no computer, TB-303, Korg Volca Sample, Korg Volca Keys and some effects both home made and store bought. On 8/07/2015 7:35 AM, David Seruyange wrote:

I'm actually surprised nobody mentioned "Pale Blue Dot" by Benn Jordan. Probably the most brilliant ambient album ever made (and i mark my word) The project is a tribute to carl sagan and is basicaly a soundtrack to a hypothetic journey in the space. Just try this one, in your bed, with a proper headset, believe me you won't have any sleep problem : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lkFGwkN69s Beber Date: Wed, 8 Jul 2015 08:35:32 -0500 Subject: Re: Best Ambient From: clinta@gmail.com To: brunogola@gmail.com CC: moogkid@gmail.com; idm@hyperreal.org tangerine dream as long as we're naming classics like Chill Out;) Clint Anderson Systems Engineer On Wed, Jul 8, 2015 at 7:25 AM, Bruno Gola <brunogola@gmail.com> wrote: ben and jared, good stuff ! on that list, i love that klf - chill out is there, it is amazing On Wed, Jul 8, 2015 at 1:53 AM, Ben Bridges <moogkid@gmail.com> wrote: I done a live recording that could be considered ambient. Desiderii Marginis is top notch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDhZzfVTIvY if you dark shades of ambient, most all of the recent releases on Cyclic Law <http://www.discogs.com/label/18743-Cyclic-Law> are really high quality stuff... Apocrophos, TeHOM, Northaunt, Lamia Vox, it goes on. Aural Hypnox <http://www.discogs.com/label/30405-Aural-Hypnox> is the most legit tho when you're reading some Lovecraft or Crowley. Arktau Eos <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1u6WPoeutVw>' AI MA RA is a nice entry point to that universe On Thu, Jul 9, 2015 at 11:16 PM, AV2k <a_void2000@yahoo.com> wrote:
