Does anyone know of any *new* music being made using the intuitive potential of the Buchla "music box" synthesizer in an idm-style environment? I really love those old records by Morton Subotnick (Touch, Sidewinder, Silver Apples of the Moon) but his newer stuff is all MIDI and digital (check out but avoid All My Hummingbirds Have Alibis) and IMO his approach just doesn't work as well in that medium. What i like about the Buchla (and what I would like to hear more of) is the potential to program pieces that have no relation to conventional, Western 12-note tuning systems. This approach would seem esp. appropriate to ambient music. --Mark
