Yes I am back.. I must say, I really loved some of the As One album,
but I think Kirk has gotten a little fluffy as of late.. His older releases
were a little more quirky and challenging.. As for Nev, Tim won't admit it,
but he's been a lurker on IDM for months (HAHAHAHA!!!).. His new record, green
plasma something or another has supposidely come out, but we can't find it
anywhere.. Don't let him tell you otherwise, it's quite good.. He has a very
polished sound, reminiscent of melodic Black Dog stuff.. As for GPR in general,
I feel as though the label has taken a turn for the worse lately.. Granted
(no pun intended!) that they still release excellent records from time to
time, many of the new releases seem to concerned with being to different to
time, many of the new releases seem to concerned with being to different to
have the spark that records like the Virel remixes (Black Dog) or some of
the earlier luke slater stuff had.. I'm certainly NOT dissin the label, but
I just can't get into to some of the unbelievably shmaltzy overtones many
of the new releases have.. They sound like the works of people who worship
Tangerine Dream for their rock/pop/synth stuff, lacking the grroovy element
many of Wayne's early releases had... For instance, the Black Dog remix
of Shiva is an absolute classic.. (speaking of ambient jungle).. Can I tell
you guys how worried I am, now that it looks like the Black Dog Lp and my new
releases may coincide!! Please take the new stuff for what it is.. I hate
my Atari ST and I feel quite limited using an old boot of Cubase.. However,
I promise you 2, maybe 3 new records full of melody and quirky sounds due
in the next couple of weeks.. The DATs were finally sent today, so it
shouldn't be too long.. Maximum respect goes out to Dave Walker, who's
message I seem to have missed the first time around.. Also, check out the
new issue of Reverb at the FTP site, and you'll see why I told you... Cheers!
