Just got a preview of the forthcoming Burnt Freidmann & the Nu Dub Players album, called Just Landed, on Pole's ~Scape label. The album, which follows the Burnt Freidmann & the Nu Dub Players Do Not Legalize It ep, also on Scape, contains nine new tracks all firmly 'rooted' in the classic instrumental dub sound with only light electronic touches like ocassional warm melodic synth beds and sparse complex drum programming. But overall this has a very deep classic sound that Lee Perry, King Tubby, Mad Professor, and Wackies Rhythm & Sound fans should all enjoy. Here are the release details: . Burnt Freidmann & the Nu Dub Players: just landed cd/lp (~Scape 004) Tracks: - hut selector - just landed - cassock attack - worldwide watchdog peepshow - railway palace, melbourne - hohoura head far north - i shot the fahion victim - it's thunder - dub to the music My only complaint is the length of this album which clocks in at just of 36 minutes. But for that short period of time, Just Landed is a deep groovy head-bobbing journey. Scape continues to impress. Dont know about the N-Tone cd but I also remember hearing that a new Nonplace Urban Field cd was supposed to come out on the german Kiff sm label last year. I dont recall seeing that one released either. It's a shame, i really liked the direction the NUF sound was heading on their last Incoming album. I only ask because I know there was a Freidmann track on the Ninja comp 'Funkungfusion', and I could have sworn that the liner notes said there was an upcoming N-Tone album... The Do Not Legalize It! 12" on Scape only contains one track that appears on the Just Landed album but even that track is a slighyly different version. So there is almost no overlap between the two. Regarding the length of the Do Not Legalize It! ep, i never timed it but i would guess that it's around 18-20 minutes.

Plays Love Songs is the name of the Kiff SM album that i mentioned in my previous post. We got a tape of the record. It was really good, but we have a pretty stacked release schedule all the time. We put a tune on Funkungfusion as we hadn't made up our mind. We chose Flanger instead. Jeff

We're (N-Tone) releasing Flanger 'Midnight Sound' in May. Look for some live dates in the summer at various N.American jazz fests. Flanger live being Atom, Bernd, and Jaki (from Can). Jeff
