for those playing along at home, here is the track listing for the Tranquility Bass double pack: ED-012 Cantamilla (original) Mya Yadana (kin kin) Cantamilla (broadcast standard) They Came In Peace (sea of tranquility) ED-013 Cantamilla (bomb pop) Cantamilla (ski room stew) Mya Yadana (brain broke) They Came In Peace (original) I can now say without fear of contradiction that the Brain Broke mix of Mya Yadana is the coolest track ever. :) as for all this Aphex Twin chatter - well, we saw the buildup, now here's the backlash. i think we can all agree that the guy has some good tracks and some duds. now can we please drop it? as for his style being inimitable... well, i once tried to do a piece in the style of Selected Ambient Works and i think it was extremely close to RDJ territory, so i wiped it without committing it to tape. you will all of course doubt that i ever did perform such a feat, but i did. the key is *lots* of cheap reverb. kraftwerk: brilliant, just brilliant. no more need be said. i play "The Mix" about once a month. (btw, William Orbit did some great mixes of "radioactivity.")
