for those of you still interested, i had a look at the documentary i taped some time ago and i can confirm that it is _sonic arts_. the documentary consists of interviews with and soundclips of Stockhausen, Pierre Henry, DJ Spooky, Squarepusher (wonderful bit from a live show, TJ freaking out over his little mixer !), Merzbow, ... all the interviews have dutch subtitles (only dutch), but some bits are in german, dutch, french and even japanese, which might be a problem for most language-challenged people. apparently, i also taped the "sister"-documentary, called _sonic images_. this one consists of music of Stockhausen, Squarepusher, Merzbow, ... accompagnied by images shot by a variety of dutch artists (all of them unknown to me). some of the images remind me of the Coldcut / Hex stuff, the images almost showing the sound and music you hear, all really nice stuff. both documentaries will fit nicely on a 120 minute video tape and i am willing to make a dub for anyone interested (sorry but i can only do PAL dubs !). if interested, drop me a line and i am sure we can work something out. i myself am still looking for a variety of video (mostly Cabaret Voltaire related) and music things ... dv8

Got a rather unusual cd in the station today. It's by a band called Cubanate and it's on Wax Trax/TVT. I threw it into the cd player and got a surprise. I think it is the first attempt at meshing industrial with drum n bass. Now, I know your thinking well what about Digital Hardcore? Well it doesn't sound like DHR cause there aren't any hardcore speed metal riffs or heavily distorted beats. Instead the vocals are distorted (much like Ministry/Skinny Puppy), but placed over rather straighforward drum n bass tracks. The result is pretty interesting and anyone that likes the two genres should definetly check it out. The album is produced by Rhys Fulber of Front Line Assembly/Delirium fame. So far track number 2, "Isolation," seems to be a standout track. I don't think that this album is indicative of what the next Nine Inch Nails record will sound like however. The album doesn't use elements of jungle, but rather uses it as the foundation for every track. ario P.S. Somebody post a review on the new Boards of Canada or the Caustic Window! _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
