I never got excited by Moloko, and Matthew Herbert's work has also
eluded my interest, but I got turned on to Róisín Murphy's new album
Ruby Blue and it's awesome. I find it curious that I haven't seen it
mentioned on this list (maybe I just didn't notice it).
It's got a very classy/jazzy feel, but it's also quite experimental,
verging on pop-IDM... Ms. Murphy's voice is a joy, and the songwriting
is fun. The whole release is worth checking out, though there are a
couple of weak spots. The best tracks, if you want a taste-test, are
"Sow Into You", "Night Of The Dancing Flame" and "If We're In Love."
And the title track's a bluesy kick in the pants...
