Hi, everyone, I'm playing in San Francisco this Friday, "Digital Bliss 2005," featuring an all-female electronic musician lineup. How incredibly rare is that? My set is from 1-2, but you should really just go for the entire thing--lots of great people will be performing and, like I said--how *exceedingly* rare is this??? And I've got this badass compilation out now on my label called Subvaritrax. Check it: http://www.subvariant.com/cms/releases_comments.php?id=43_0_4_0_C That's it for now... short and sweet. peas & <3, -liz http://www.quantazelle.com Digital Bliss 2005 An Evening of Women Electronic Music Producers and Performers LOCATION/TIME Ten15 Folsom (1015) 415-431-1200 1015 Folsom Street San Francisco, CA 94103 Fri 11/11/05 (10pm-4am) » Live music Starts at 10pm!! Digital Bliss Productions is devoted to promoting the best up & coming and established women in the male-dominated electronic music genre. The 2005 performers showcase a diverse cross-section of electronica through live vocal and instrumental performance, laptop and turntable manipulations and strict hand-on-knob tweaking. Two beautiful rooms will feature back-to-back performances from some of the best underground and new music being produced. And, for the second year in a row, Digital Bliss will be raffling off software and hardware from Digidesign, Ableton and Native Instruments. This one-of-a -kind event is not to be missed! Information about the Performers: Rena Jones (San Francisco) – Founder of Digital Bliss Productions http://www.renamusic.com A multitalented composer, producer, audio engineer, sound designer, violinist, cellist, and vocalist, Rena Jones has been described as "the revered daughter of San Francisco's electronic music scene" -- OEM Radio. Her newest solo album, Transmigration, is a beautiful blend of ethno, IDM, breakbeat, and downtempo. Her latest music is appreciated for its freshly unique style, with warm tones of violin, cello, live tablas, and percussion. Divasonic (San Francisco) – Founder of Digital Bliss Productions http://www.divasonic.com Classically-trained multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and programmer Lynda Arnold is Divasonic. Her sound is a blend of electronic beats ranging from trip-hop to house to drum-n-bass. Samples and synths combined with blissfully performed flute and keyboard improvisations add to her unique production flavor. Original lyrics derived from her poetry often touch on spiritual themes and emotional memories past and present. Check out her latest album ‘Birth.’ Divasonic is featured on the debut progressive house and world music album by the ‘Spiritual Brothers’ released by EMI Middle East and Germany in 2004. “Sophisticated in their dreamy piano chords, drum 'n' bass elements, and mesmerizing vocals, Divasonic's electronic excursions cast a powerful and unforgettable face.” – Download.com Artemis (San Francisco) http://www.artemis.fm Breathing a rich dose of soul into the cool digital world, electronica artist Artemis brews up seductive sonic concoctions, deftly weaving poetry and pure emotion into psychoacoustic landscapes pulsing with both otherworldly and organic life. With her roots in classical and folk music, training in vocal traditions from several corners of the globe, and an ear for innovation, Artemis puts electronic music's limitless spectrum to bold use. Her style ranges from sparse and sparkling to richly symphonic, blending elements of downtempo, triphop, drum and bass, breakbeats, and electro-pop to create a potent fusion set ablaze with siren vocals as riveting as they are intimate. Check out her latest album ‘Gravity.’ Quantazelle (Chicago) http://www.quantazelle.com http://www.subvariant.com Along with running a geeky jewelry design company (Zelle), an online magazine (Modsquare), and the subVariant record label, Liz McLean Knight produces bright, melodic IDM . She takes a funky machine-noise groove, combines it with a pretty melody and adds a sprinkling of glitched-out textures. Think along the lines of early Autechre, Aphex Twin, or Four Tet, with some fleeting, glitchy-minimal-techno moments. Her DJ sets—as Liz Revision--feature the finest in melodic-yet-structurally-challenging IDM, prominently featuring Modsquare net-releases and selected tracks that fit her electronic, quirkily-subversive sensibility. Quantazelle is featured in XLR8R Magazine in October 2005!
