http://www.nkhstudio.com/pages/popup_bassline.html Bassline Baseline, 2005 total run time 21 minutes Bassline Baseline is a video essay that investigates the invention, failure and subsequent resurrection of the mythic Roland TB-303 Bass Line music machine in the last two decades of the 20th century. The narrative seeks to invite thoughts on technological mediation within product innovation and creative expression. The dead-panned 'documentary' video attempts to explore how and why creative tools fail and how increasingly more options, parameters or intermediaries devised during a tool's research and development phase don't necessarily lead to increased expressivity or virtuosity during the tool's lifetime of actual use, unless the super-structure of its cultural context is dramtically reconsidered. Haven't had a chance to watch it but it sounds interesting... nice. thanks staticbeats. great video. i'm bugged that the narrator says there are two wave forms, one being sine! this is funny considering that he pronounced the word timbre correctly. saw and square, sorry, no sine wave homey. --- StaticBeats <shimone@staticbeats.com> wrote:

i recently picked up a very interesting dvd/booklet set at Strand in manhattan featuring some very interesting (and some god awful) current digital video artists. i picked up the set originally seeing that three of the pieces were set to funkstorung music, but for some (extremely frustrating and perplexing) reason i come home drunk-ish tonight to find that those three pieces are not on the dvd as said. what the hell? i'm pissed. if something is abscent from any sort of product release at the last minute that was advertised/intended-to-the-public, put a damned sticker on the package that says so, that's it. it's like buying a CD compilation and finding three artists' tracks are missing... not cool (though i still dig the dvd)... anyone seen these? sleepwalking dir: hoy presto the zoo dir: zeitguised captured in motion dir: sascha pohflepp ps. if anyone else got this set, i'm trying to get in contact with the production company to see what's up... grahghaghghhhh http://www.idnproshop.com/idnworld/ look under publications... those three pieces are not listed on the site, but they have their own sections in the booklet and are on the dvd map in the booklet. _________________________________________________________________ Don?t just search.
