hey everyone,
Proud to present a bunch of inside merck news for all you diehard fans.
Spread the good word.
First off, this week marks the release of the fourth Merck Mix cd.
Entirely done by Proswell, its basically a 50 minute live set that he
did and then reworked for days and days and days, and more days. Yes, he
basically burned himself out on music working on this mix for you all,
so you better appreciate it. It is presented in a mix style, its all
proswell tracks, and at an unbeatable price. Heres the official press sheet:
We are proud to announce Merck Mix #4, a record marking the 5th
anniversary of Merck Records. The mix also serves as a celebration of
the accomplishments of Proswell. His music knowledge and networking
contributions have expanded electronic music in Chicago and around the
world in new directions for the past 10 years with online projects such
as inpuj.net. This disc all together is a milestone of work in the
discography of Proswell and the first artist exclusive mix in the Merck
catalog. The mix consists entirely of original Proswell material
selected by Proswell himself, and browses through previous Merck
releases Konami (2003) and Carrot Dossier (2004), as well as new
unreleased tracks. Starting off the CD is a track recorded live at the
very first Native Instruments Artist Highlight [NIAH] in Chicago, and it
continues from there to delve into dancier remixes and headnod breaks
from various points in his catalog. LTD 1000

This march also marks some exciting news for all you Proem fans. First
off we are doing a 2x7" release containing 4 of his remixes, 2
previously available, 1 upcoming on CD and 1 exclusive. Following in
that order those being: ilkae, multiplex, blamstrain, and md remixes.
Packaged in a ziplock bag and limited to only 500 copies, this should be
a nice gem for you all.
ALSO! You all are the first to hear that we are proud to announce the cd
repress of the first Proem album on Merck, Negativ. Proem has remixed
the original artwork and we've repressed another 1000 copies for all of
you that missed it. Official Press sheet here:
This is Proem's second full length CD, his first being an underground
hit on Hydrant. There is no shortage of the lush melodies and crunchy
beats you know and love here either. However, you are facing a more
evolved Proem. The music is definitely smoother and more dynamic, while
maintaining the notable crunchiness he is so revered for. Filling a full
74 minutes of your standard issue CD with Patented unstandard beat
science and butter-fied melodies. Includes a special Brothomstates
remix of Proem as a hidden final track. 2005 Repress features new
remixed artwork of the original by Proem himself. Ltd 1000

This April we are proud to present a full album from Malcom Kipe. Any of
you that caught his killer limited 12" from last year know whats in
store from this IDM pro. Delicious sample based hiphop with an IDM slant
to it, we still keep rocking his Nautilis Planet-Mu material in our cd
player, i'm sure this one will remain in yours for a long time as well.
Carefully crafted over the last year, it contains material from the
first 12", as well as a bunch of new material. Press sheet here:
Debut Merck CD from Austin, Texas based producer Malcolm Kipe, better
known to some as Nautilis (of Planet-Mu). Breakspiracy Theories is a
conceptual piece focused on the aesthetics of raw sample based hip hop
and the political motivations of Malcom Kipe. This is a collection of
hip hop library beats and instrumentals composed of nineteen tracks made
in 2004 & 2005, including some material from the previously released BT1
12". This album is strongly influenced by golden era hip hop production
and excessive crate digging. Expect high quality material from this
skilled southern producer with a sample collection of gold. Chipboard
digipak jacket. Limited to 2000.

And then our big May cd is going to be the Blamstrain Remix cd. In the
works for several years now, we've assembled some of the best names from
all over IDM, and all over the world, for one very talented and quality
cd. Press sheet here:
This is the second Blamstrain CD on Merck, that being a collection of
remixes of tracks from his first debut CD "Ensi". With a varied and
allstar lineup of remixers on it including Mesak (1/2 of Mr. Velcro
Fastener), Proem, Funckarma, Isan, Gridlock, Mosaik, Taho, Lackluster,
Syndrone, No Xivic, and a special closing track by Blamstrain himself.
His first album straddled the divide between idm and techno and these
remixes bring an even greater diversity to his sound, from Mesak's
intelligent electro, to Isans lush downtempo reconfiguration on to
Lackluster's 4/4 breakdown and on into Blamstrain and No Xivic's dark
ambient closers. A cd for dark nights and early mornings watching the
traffic shift in cities downtown. Limited 1000 Polycase
