Since this is 2021 and Seefeel's heyday was before some IDM list
subscribers were born, here's why this is important. For me personally,
the AFX remixes on "Pure,Impure" were the gateway drug to what's currently
known as IDM.
Generally though, Seefeel had a completely fresh take on rock music. They
were nominally part of the Creation Records shoegazer thing, along with My
Bloody Valentine, but they were well out beyond MBV in terms of sound.
It's hard to even describe how fresh this sounded at the time: A weird
mismatch of post-rock, isolationist ambient and dub, they also had really
good songs and a unique approach to structure and repetition.
