Hey Charlie and Josh (or else anyone involved in this post), I just got through "Map of what is Effortless" last night and I have to say I think it smokes "Fahrenheit Fair Enough", which was one of my favorite albums of 2001. Personally I don't understand the criticism of the vocals, accessibility or string usage on "Effortless" considering these are the elements that elevate the album to a new level. The depth that you guys have shown on "Effortless" is incredible and knowing your tastes (from the interview I conducted with you Mutek 2002) I say bravo to your new found sound and musical progression. I am sure you're aware of how difficult it is for an underground electronic act (especially in the greater than thou world of IDM) to embrace elements common in popular music (vocals especially). You guys pull it off seamlessly in my opinion. The vocals compliment your melodies, rich textures, glitch and thick percussion beautifully. I love electronic music, but I can't deny the power of vocals and organic elements in music when they're done right. You guys nailed it!!! -Sean Horton (a.k.a. Nordic Soul) www.dbfestival.com P.S. Long live Justin Timberlake!!!! _________________________________________________________________ Rethink your business approach for the new year with the helpful tips here. http://special.msn.com/bcentral/prep04.armx --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
