pertinent excerpt from: http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/01/08/1073437402717.html Despite the rushed release of Drukqs and the reasons behind that, he thinks "having music for free is a good thing, because I don't think music should be a commodity. I've changed my opinion to and fro over the years, but I really do think there shouldn't be any copyright on art." On the one hand, easy for Mr. Aphex Twin to say as he's sitting comfortably with plenty of royalties (and tanks and bank vault apartments of course). On the other hand, I tend to agree with him on days when I'm feeling more idealistic than pragmatic. Its too bad its just a short newspaper blurb. I'm sure it'd be interesting to hear Richard D. James' ideas and observations about the commodification of art. -Aaron --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

And then we can try to decide if he's winding us up or not. Nice to see the "bootleg Aphex on a plane" story again. If it's true, and it hasn't turned up by now, the stewardess threw it away. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
