PRESS RELEASE:
Suction Records, Canada's first & premiere source of electro(pop) music,
presents 4 evenings of quality electro(pop) and robot music. Forget the
"clash", this event is pure electro-class: featuring live sets by
Skanfrom,Lowfish, and Solvent vs Lowfish, + DJ entertainment by Solvent.
That's right, it's an evening of non-stop robot music.
Germany's Skanfrom released his debut full-length release of raw, minimal
synthpop on Suction Records in 2002, and will be returning for a new
full-length, "Russian Satellites", in 2004. This is a rare North
Americanlive appearance for this German robot. Skanfrom is also well-known
for his contributions to his own a.d.s.r. label, as well as contributions
to the Morr Music and Genetic labels.
Toronto's Lowfish makes a rare solo live appearance, concentrating on
tracks from the upcoming "1000 Corrections per Second", his 3rd
full-length, which will be released in October 2003 on Suction Records.
This showcase is also a pre-release party for Lowfish's "1000 Corrections
per Second", which will be available to purchase at the show. Lowfish is
also well-known for his contributions to the Ersatz Audio and Ghostly
International labels.
Toronto's Solvent vs Lowfish have been releasing their unique brand of
purist synthesizer pop since 1997, via their own Suction Records label. Two
distinct artists they may be, but Solvent and Lowfish most often play
together as 'Solvent vs Lowfish'. Solvent vs Lowfish will be playing all
the vocoder hits, including tracks from Solvent's forthcoming 2-volume 12"
series on Ghostly International ("Radio Ga Ga" - coming November 2003).
DJ entertainment will be provided by Solvent: spinning electro, new wave,
ebm, disco nouveau and robot pop.

INFO:
"1000 corrections per second" is the 3rd full length release by
Lowfish,Suction Records co-founder and full-time robot, Gregory De Rocher.
Lowfishis also well known for his recent "Accident Causer" EP on Detroits
Ersatz Audio label. Lowfish strives to produce raw, precise, stripped down
melodic electronic music with beats. "1000 corrections per second" is a
conceptinspired both by the possibility of extreme quantization, and the
amount of times Lowfishs mind changes during the creative process.
From the pure melodic synth pop of "Glass House" and "Fric Frac", to the
punishing dance floor electro/EBM stomp of "Photo Disintegration" and
"Around the Neck"; from the intricate artificial intelligence of "Air of
Supremacy" and "Black on White on Black", to the lush ambience of "50
percent Feeling" and "Step Step"; 1000 corrections per second is a diverse,
yet cohesive serving of modern synthesizer music. You will dance, you will cry.
Thirteen songs, three synthesizers, one drum machine, no vocals, no
gimmicks- Lowfish delivers it pure!

SECTION-004: SOLVENT VS LOWFISH upcoming release news
Coming October 2003:
artist: Solvent vs Lowfish
title: "Power Failure" ep
format: 12" EP
label: Vynalogica (INFO:
http://www.cemstudio.com/)
tracklist:
A1: cemBlex (cemRMX)
A2: power failure
B1: built-in microphone (cemRMX)
B2: close encounter
B3: test sequence
About the Vynalogica series:
"What happens if you let today's most innovative dance producers loose in a
40 year old electronic music studio full of vintage equipment? What can
today's creative minds do with the tools of yesterday's electronic music
pioneers?"
These were the questions Ruud Lekx and Jouke Schouwstra of the Dutch Center
for Electronic Music in Amsterdam asked themselves. They decided to invite
different artists into the fully analogue studio to complete one vinyl EP.
About the "Power Failure" ep:
At last, Solvent and Lowfish's 1st collaborative release! The robots spent
2 days living in the Centre for electronic musics studio in Amsterdam,
making noises with the old machines. Returning to Toronto with 2 DATs full
of modular mayhem, the ep was composed almost entirely from noises made in
the CEM studio. Includes 3 brand new compositions, + 2 dramatic reworkings
of classic tracks: Lowfish's "fatBlex" becomes "cemBlex", & Solvent's
"built-in microphone" is reconstructed with a massive, modular bassline.
