The Notwist, Lali Puna, be sure to check out Lightning Bolt, which is not electronic but has a definitive extreme IDM-ish edge to it, and did I mention the Notwist?

i'd recommend checking out black dice and the animal collective (avey tare & panda bear). they both mix electronics and live drums and some guitars with great results (and you can hear some boredoms influences in their music). great stuff... and maybe mindflayer too. it's the electronic side project of lightning bolt's drummer (he plays drums while someone fiddles with an effects box). or maybe neon hulk too... - roy brasilia http://www.unovis.org --- Thad Biggerstaff <daht73@yahoo.com> wrote:

not a new recommendation, but if you like vinyl as much as i do, you may be interested to know that Loveless was just repressed on 180 gram vinyl by Plain Recordings. dave Thad Biggerstaff <daht73@yahoo.com> wrote: i adore my bloody valentine. i also quite like the swirlies. and medicine's shot forth self living. wondering if anyone has suggestions for bands that combine similiar guitar work with idm/electronica aspects...? Thad, Don't know if someone mentioned it, but Electronicat's new album on Disko B is good glam-step techno rock. thanx for mentioning Electronicat Sam, for sure all his albums rock some might want to dig some oldies on Pandemonium, combining electro w/ post rock, indus... http://www.pandemoniumrecords.com ANDY'S CAR CRASH : formes (PAN 037) Second album by this act from Bordeaux. Release-date February 2000. A. C. C. stretches and fragments the periods of time and transform various sounding matter/sonic material into an element of composition : A creation based on experimentations which provide a perpetual renovation. Pathologically, A. C. C. result from the collaboration of five autists who manage to understand one another, and found a way of expressing it in destroying their influences... From Steve Reich to Einstürzende Neubauten, not to mention Autechre. Most of all, they create a very strong and up to date music that dares to go beyond any restriction... Transgressive Electronica... Well, simply "formes" by andy's Car Crash. HINT : wu-wei (PAN 028) In the Summer Hint recorded their new album on which they immerse the listener in an ocean of sound, treading a fine line between Noise and Ambience. "WU-WEI" is the third album from the French duo, consolidating their growing popularity and influence in mainland Europe. "WU-WEI" is cinema for the ears ! 10 tracksof raging beauty that create an imaginary soundtrack to the movie that runs in your head. The addition of cello, violin, and horns on several songs help to form a unique blend of instrumentation and electronic sound manipulations. The distinctively European tonalities merging with the sampled sources into vast columns of sound, both ancient and modern. Comparisons have been made with Can, This Heat and Labradford... but in actuality Hint sound like no-one other than themselves. HINT : dys- (PAN 013) The universe composed by Hervé Thomas (samples, guitars, bass, vocals, piano) and Arnaud Fournier (guitar, saxophone, trumpet, flute) leads you into a unique dimension... somewhere between White Noise and cloudy ambiences. A aery mix of distorted sounds, ethnic pieces, lamenting horns creating brilliant structures. Hint loses their audience in an atmosphere of Noïz... or a Noïz atmosphere... Rich and innovative. ALBOTH! : amor fati (PAN 020) Sixth and new album by the Swiss band. Alboth! prepaired it on their computer, and then added instruments, vocals, sounds, and various other noises necessary to build quite an unique concept : neither Post-Rock nor new Electronica, but simply "AMOR FATI" ! Thoroughly innovative and far away from classicism, Alboth! constantly goes ahead. No album will ever sound like the one before.
