anyone hear anything more about their whereabouts (web site's still down the last time i checked)? thanks, sean groovesmag.com ah since last time the named appeared on the list several labels, stores told me they are owed a huge amount of money by Safety In Numbers. Seems like the bastards disappeared to avoid paying debts. which brings another annoying subject of discussion, it might indeed be the end of music with distros like Safety In Numbers not paying labels they distribute. It is already hard enough to sell records when most people burn cdrs, so if the retailers ain't honest then indie labels will die. I think SIN have a record store in Brooklyn, so please keep in mind that you participate to the death of labels when you buy records there. philippe | 0000 \\\\.. \\\\ __ http://www.bip-hop.com _---| 0000 \\\\..\\\\ ==> contemporary electronica challenging the ears and the mind

i record as accelera deck, i have dealt with umpteen labels in releasing my music, sometimes money has been involved and i have never once had a problem with any label paying me agreed amounts whatsoever except for Safety In Numbers. i initially thought that they had not paid me because i (unfortunately) had to cancel my appearance at SiNfest, however having seen the emails from others who have had similar dealings i thought it important to chime in. it basically seems that irregardless if you're a label, artist or distributor that SiN have failed in every respect and on every front in their distribution and artist payments. the amount i was agreed to be paid was $100 (following 60 days of the release) for the use of an exclusive track on a compilation. the amount is unimportant to me. don't get me wrong, i like to be paid for my work and i like to be paid in the agreed way. it is the principle involved. i understand that unforeseen circumstances happen which may make a payment late, but it is really ridiculous to simply be ignored and flat out not paid. additionally i helped run Pitchcadet records for several years and although pitchcadet did receive all its money it was very late, and a big hassle in getting replies to emails. thanks for reading c

I never dealt with SIN but (K-RAA-K)3 in belgium owes me almost $400 for transmissions CDs. They promised to pay as recently as this spring but I haven't heard anything since then. Any other egregious offenders? For me, Anomalous Records has been the most reliable (in terms of payment). e --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
