i'm not personally from philadelphia, but the label i go thru is philadelphia
based, and i have been up to their "headquarters" before. everyone else on
the label is mostly from around there. plenty of idm and ambient and
experimental people around there...
go to www.zenapolae.com and check out the artists roster. they've got
updates on local shows and stuff rather often.
everyone should go there in fact....go listen to the samples of all of our
releases...there's samples of every song released on there. from idm to
glitch to ambient to experimental and all sorts of different people. paul
edwards cd is getting some good reviews....
"...dark yet uplifting, heart-scratching ditties that gracefully glide with
charming synthesizer melodies, AFX-ish breakbeats that range from splattering
minimal blips and clips to uppity drum ’n’ bass, soundtrack-y soundscapes,
quirky bubbly-ness and sci-fi spookiness. It’s all urbanely laced with funk,
soul, jazz, psychedelics,
anyway, enough promoting the rest of the guys for now, go buy the ecux cd-r
"oceans". tis good stuff, i'm telling you (only 5 bucks, like all the
cd-rs). and whether you do or don't like what you hear from the samples,
email me tell me why at least. feedback is always interesting.
so there you go sir, philadelphia idm and whatnot at its finest.
