Of course not. It works for an entirely different set of people who are fed
up with popular music, or who are open to new things. Perhaps people who
like Moby, or Enya, or Delerium, or Tortoise will think BoC are the bees
knees. Popular music for teens may have to sell itself out, but BoC may yet
become relatively popular without pandering to the 12 year old girl
audience.
Look at what's happened with the Avalanches in the UK after all. It's not as
though you even need radio play to be _that_ popular. I can't remember a
single time I've heard Jurassic 5 on the radio, yet they're fairly popular.
