We have an exciting winter and spring season in front of us at Beatservice
Records. Three high profile album releases in the downbeat area are coming,
and also a new album from Upper Rooms, and collaboration EP with Mind over
MIDI and the dub-vocalist Tikiman. Please note that this is the
export/international release dates, the dates may vary in Norway/Scandinavia.
FEBRUARY
11. feb BS041 Xploding Plastix: Behind The Eightball CDEP
International release of this Bond-ish sleazy spy-thriller-theme taken from
the "Amateur Girlfriends" album, present both as a radio-edit and a remix,
done by the lads themselves. In addition there is an exclusive live track from
the "In The City" gig in Manchester, plus four new tracks in the familiar XP
style.
18. feb BS046 Kyd & Kango: High Above CD
International release of this retrospective collection of tracks from the
Norwegian house duo. Seven deephouse tracks previously available on 12" on
various UK labels, plus the exclusive track Bugi.
MARCH
11. march BS049 Flunk: Miss World 12"
First taster from the Flunk album, with the exclusive bonus track Melancholic,
plus remixes of Kebab Shop 3AM by a.o. Rune Lindbaek.
11. march BS048 Slowpho: Hotel Sleep 12"
Remix EP from Slowpho, with house-remixes on the a-side done by Kango (Hotel
Sleep) and Motion Control (Lovetech), and downbeat-remixes of Would You on the
b-side, done by Sternklang and Ugress.
18. march BS047 Slowpho: Hi-Fi Sounds For Young Norwegians CD/LP
Debut album from duo working in the borderlines between electronica, downbeat,
drum'n'bass and nujazz, plus Hilde Dranges jazzy vocals.
25. march BS053 Flunk: Blue Monday CD-single
A downbeat version of New Order's Blue Monday, with Björk-ish vocals...!!! + 2
exclusive bonus-tracks... A remix 12" is also planned.
APRIL
8. april BS054 Mind over MIDI vs Tikiman: Champion / Revelation 10"
Tikiman is known from his collaborations with the Chain Reaction guys. He met
Helge Tømmervåg at the Fløien-festival in Bergen last summer. They teamed up,
and the result is this two-track 10" with cool arctic minimalism with
dub-reggae-vocal. Indeed something to look forward to!
15. april BS055 Upper Rooms: Trans Balkan Express 12"
4-track EP taster from his new album. The main track is the kraftwerk-ish
Trans Balkan Ekspress, plus an exclusive extended disco mix of Disco Triste.
29. april BS051 Flunk: For Sleepyheads Only CD/LP
Debut album from Ulph Nygaard's new project. He has been working several years
under the Folk & Røvere name, with triphop-ish beats with Norwegian lyrics.
But Flunk is an international aimed project, with English vocals both from Ulf
himself and from Björk-ish vocals from Anja. Stylewise it's downbeat, with the
addition of acoustic guitar and flute.
MAY
6. may BS056 Upper Rooms: Canti Popolari CD
On the second Upper Rooms album, album he has focused more on electro and 80's
synth/disco.
21. may BS052 Friendly Selection CD
Downbeat vocal tracks from various Norwegian acts, taken from various more or
less rare 7", 10", 12"-ers and albums, plus some exclusive goodies. Including
the Beatservice-artists Slowpho, Flunk and Athome Project, plus more to be
announced soon. The compilation will be mixed by DJ Friendly from Norwegian
national radio NRK Petre, the leading Norwegian ambient/downbeat DJ.
Puh!
And in the autumn, Prima Norsk 2, the debut album from Athome Project plus
more are planned. This will definately be an exciting year!!!!
