So, as we all know ChiasticSlide was recently rereleased... how does this title compare to the entier AE catalog? AllMusic gives it a measly three stars and seems to hint that even AE wasn't thrilled about it... any comments? and i'm sure it's been stated, but is there going to be a whole string of rereleases now? thank you all for your help... Personally, my favorite AE albums are Chiastic Slide, LP5, and Confield. EP7 is up there as well. I think it's one of their best, and I don't really think it matters what they thought, especially since they don't care what their fans think. As they say, it's basically just about what they like at any given time, and I like Chiastic Slide.

I don't know about that, but I know that in 2001 Warp rereleased the entire AE back catalog (or most of it) ... I think it was just vinyl, actually, but... ===== .Adam http://www.damek.org/ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send FREE video emails in Yahoo! Well, Autechre ARE quite good. I know Amber is pegged as easy listening by many thislisty people, but I like the fact that I can put it on just about anytime. I don't need to be "in the mood' for it. Garbage, Anvil, Vapre, EP7, and parts of Confield are much spikier. Confield dirves me nuts because parts are quite sweet and contemplative (tho' still machine-like) and other parts are just ff'n insane. These are the greatest Ae releases (IMHO), in no particular order: Amber Tri Repetae Chiastic Slide (note: I don't own Incunabula) Also, beware of artists syaing they don't like this or that release of theirs. Most of the time, they don't know what they're talking about ;) I know Ae have said they don't think much of Amber, that they got too into the new bits of gear they had recently acquired. WTF! I'd say that's more applicable to their current output with its superabundance of tortured squelches and such. I think Chiastic Slide is the best album -- in the sense of having a musical narrative that runs through it and not just a collection of interesting tracks -- that AE has ever done. Listen to it through in one sitting and see if you don't agree; the final track makes a lot more sense as the capstone to the album than in isolation. That said, it was by far the hardest AE album for me to get into. I absolutely hated it the first time I listened to it; it wasn't until about the fourth listen that something "clicked" and it all made sense to me. Since then, it remains my favorite album of theirs, though there may be individual tracks from their other albums that exceed it. -Ed To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to: idm-m-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com Your use of Yahoo!
